The game is based on the content of the For the Strength of Youth booklet that each of the youth should have in their possession. My notes indicate that this idea came from the Anderson, CA stake. I think it is fabulous and I hope you enjoy using it with the youth in your ward. I have had to change the wording or remove some of the answers due to family internet filters. If you cannot find or figure out the answers to these questions in the last category, please feel free to email me and I will be happy to get those answers to you. From the Stake notes: You may or may not allow players to use the For the Strength of Youth booklets. If you do allow it, you will want to keep the game going at a pretty fast pace. The answers need to be given quickly
Discuss this article or ask questions at the LDS. On a date, each is responsible to help each other preserve their standards and to protect each other’s honor and virtue. Mormon Prophet Spencer W. Kimball stated it this way:
Mormon Matchmaker, an LDS dating site, has 3 times as many single women looking for a match than single men. Some interviewees observed that due to the dearth of eligible men, there is an increase in promiscuity in Mormon dating culture.
Latter-day prophets have given us standards about dating to protect us from spiritual danger and help us prepare to one day find a worthy eternal companion. These standards include not dating before age 16, avoiding frequent dates with the same person, and dating only those who have high moral standards. What pressures are they feeling? If you are one of the LDS members, you know that it can be tough to look for others who are interesting to date. It is also difficult to look for people who have the same beliefs as yours. As of now, there are tons of LDS dating sites. But, you have to take note that not all dating sites are the same and some may not suit on your requirements. However, what makes LDS dating sites better?
The fact is the web is sprinkled with LDS dating sites that have tiny membership databases and are overpriced; LDS dating sites are few and far between and many LDS singles instead stick with mainstream general dating sites and apps for that reason.
There is also a letter with four questions you can have mom and dad fill out for each girl. They will LOVE and treasure this letter. A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the growing disparity between the numbers of single Mormon men and single Mormon women. But amidst all the hand-wringing about what this means for dating and marriage, there are larger implications for what it means for Mormonism, and I had quite a few follow-up questions. So I tracked down sociologist Rick Phillips , who with Ryan Cragun has authored the forthcoming study on the sex ratio disparity among Utah Mormons.
Both scholars are past presidents of the Mormon Social Science Association. And this is especially true in Utah as compared to the rest of the nation. Conservative denominations in the United States tend to have more women than men, so the sex ratio imbalance in Mormonism is not particularly surprising, even if it is rather severe. What is surprising is the regional concentration of this imbalance. We began to investigate sex ratios in the church when we compared data from two large censuses of religious bodies, one conducted in and the other in The data show that between these two censuses, the proportion of self-identified Latter-day Saints that were female increased rather dramatically … but only in Utah.
Outside Utah and Mormon strongholds in the Intermountain West, sex ratios within the church remained stable, and were closer to parity than in Utah. Your research suggests that the increasingly imbalanced sex ratio among Utah Mormons is like the canary in the proverbial coal mine: You attribute the gender gap to a growing trend of apostasy among Mormon men.

Blog Post on Steady Dating. This Blog accompanies a book that Deseret Book is publishing. It looks great, but alas I’m no where near a mormon bookshop. Luckily, they’ve included a lot of their book content on their blog. And then we’ll have a discussion about group dating, dating standards, etc. And of course.
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading that post HERE , because dating a variety of people in groups as casual friends is not the “norm” in many areas, so this can be a tough issue for many LDS youth. My post “4 Group Date Ideas for LDS Teens” has some great ideas for helping youth to date according to the standards that the living Prophets have set, and here are some more Here are 12 ideas that are low-cost, fun, and casual!
Some of these ideas could be used any time of year, and some of them are season-specific. Any of these date activities could be for double-dates two couples or larger groups. This is even better. A group sits around a table with a deck of cards, passing the cards and trying to get a set of four. Once someone gets a set of four they grab a spoon that sits in the middle of the table.

It means to be morally clean in “thoughts, words, and actions. The church teaches its members that “no one, male or female, is to have sexual relations before marriage. After marriage, sexual relations are permitted only with our spouse. A church handbook for leaders states that married couples should be made aware “that sexual relations within marriage are divinely approved not only for the purpose of procreation, but also as a way of expressing love and strengthening emotional and spiritual bonds between husband and wife.
Any other sexual relations, including those between persons of the same gender, are sinful and undermine the divinely created institution of the family.

Bless them that they may walk acceptably before Thee as Thy cherished sons and daughters. It was the most ennobling endowment He could give His daughters, a sacred trust that gave women an unparalleled role in helping His children keep their second estate.
Never has there been a greater need for righteous mothers—mothers who bless their children with a sense of safety, security and confidence about the future, mothers who teach their children where to find peace and truth and that the power of Jesus Christ is always stronger than the power of the adversary. Every time we build the faith or reinforce the nobility of a young woman or man, every time we love or lead anyone even one small step along the path, we are true to our endowment and calling as mothers and in the process we build the kingdom of God.

Sure, online dating is the obvious solution, but there are literally thousands of dating sites out there. Plus, not all of them act in accordance with the values of the Mormon church. How does a single person sift through all those choices and select the best option for them?
Jan 23, · I have, of course, discussed dating with other single LDS members, but my perspectives really are personal. They may not apply to everyone, especially since I am not what I would describe as a typical young Mormon (whatever that may even be).
Leave a reply Dear Paul, I am struggling and I need some advice or encouragement or wisdom, I recently got back in the dating scene. Dating guys, and being attracted to guys, reminds me of the past in relationships where I was used for sex and not valued. Do those relationships progress just like non-member relationships? Your concerns and reservations are felt by many, both in and outside of the church.
We all have desires for intimacy but also want to make sure that we are striving for relationships of meaning and value. As Latter-day Saints, we definitely choose to follow a strict standard of chastity, which the Lord has commanded. However, just because you are new to the church, your struggles are no different than those of lifelong church members.
All of us strive to exercise faith and diligence in obeying the commandments and all of us are just as prone to the natural man as any other. Regarding the progression of LDS relationships compared to non-member relationships, it is difficult to say because relationships are so drastically varied.

And it gives us the sense that we are not alone on this journey. Currently it is 1 AM on a Friday morning, September 15th, I was trying to fall asleep but I couldn’t. I’ve felt a recent urgency to type this up. I’ve had the same feeling the last couple nights to do so. Each night, the feeling has returned more intensely but I just pushed it away.

June 1, Author: I have a particular interest in this as I have a daughter in her late 30s that was widowed last year due to cancer, and she lives in Utah County. The article is partly a book review of Date-onomics, a book that breaks down dating trends by demographics. Not only is it harder to find a partner when the numbers are uneven; it radically changes behaviors between the sexes in ways that disadvantage the majority sex! Highlights of the article: In Utah, there are 3 single women for 2 men active LDS.
The gender gap has grown from This has been caused by more men leaving the religion than women. Studies have shown that women are more likely to be treated as sex objects whenever men are scarce. Mormon Matchmaker, an LDS dating site, has 3 times as many single women looking for a match than single men. Some interviewees observed that due to the dearth of eligible men, there is an increase in promiscuity in Mormon dating culture. So, in a church so obviously geared toward men, why are so many of them leaving?
Ryan Cragun, a sociology professor at the University of Tampa who also happens to be ex-LDS considers it an unexpected byproduct of the growing importance of the mission in the life of Mormon men; faced with the choice to serve or not at a young age when they may not be fully ready to commit , many have chosen to leave. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of Mormon men do not go on missions, which typically entail a mix of community service and proselytizing.
